Remembering Our Friend, Jason Jenkins

It is with a very heavy heart that I share the untimely passing of my friend and mentor, and a friend and partner to TB Media Group – Jason Jenkins. Some of you in South Florida have met him and also worked with him on shoots. He was key in facilitating our partnership with the Miami Dolphins and Fiserv on the Back2Business campaign.

Jason Jenkins

There are not enough words to express what Jason Jenkins meant to me and TB Media Group. We met when I was a reporter at Local 10 News in 2012, and showed me the lay of the land the first time I was covering the Miami Dolphins. Everyone always said he was “the best” to work with and that was an understatement.

Over the next 10 years, Jason would become my friend, a friend to my mom who he would call his “homie”, and also a supporter of my growing business.

He knew when my mom was in town, who is a big sports fan, and made sure to get her to a Dolphins game and even on the field — where she would name all the key players. She instantly became a fan because of Jason.

We all know the big things he did for the community, but it was these “little” things that stay with me and describe the depth at which he cared for his relationships.

We stayed in touch as I built TB Media Group and got involved with nonprofits like UMNSU Card — and without hesitation donated to their gala fundraiser’s silent auction.

When I hosted my first panel discussion for the Gable Chamber on pitching the media, he without hesitation said yes.

He often pointed out my work ethic and the grind as we grew, saying that it must be our #scorpio tendencies that keep us singularly focused on our goals. We also joked about needing a day (or a week) off.

Despite Jason working 24/7, he invited me to key events and made introductions for me. He understood the influence of his role and ALWAYS thought about how he could pay it forward — getting me in the right rooms.

In 2021, he nominated TB Media Group for a $10,000 grant for Black-owned businesses, but when the grant went to Black-owned restaurants to support them through the pandemic, he recommended our team to be the storytellers for the project. Over the next year and a half TB Media Group worked alongside the Miami Dolphins and  Fiserv to tell the stories of their Food Relief and Back2Business program to give back to small businesses in our community. It’s amazing how he saw every opportunity to be an advocate and supporter of me, my company, and countless others.

To my friend, mentor, and fellow Scorpio, THANK YOU. You are so missed.💔
