I’m Doing Something I’ve Never Done Before on My 5 Year Business Anniversary featuring Tamika Bickham
I’m back for a solo episode to celebrate my 5th anniversary in business — as the Founder & Chief Storyteller of TB Media Group. This special occasion calls for something, well, special….A GIVEAWAY! For the first time ever, I decided to do a giveaway of not one, but two things that my audience has been asking for! In this episode, you’ll find out what they are and how to sign up for them.
I’m also taking a moment to reflect on this 5th year in business, a wild 2020 to say the least, and share the 5 highs and the 5 lows that have come with it.
December 14, 2020 marks 5 years (officially) in business. Why do I say officially? I was working full time and TB Media Group was a side hustle for the first three years I was in business. I didn’t have the intention of going full time with a content marketing and video production agency….but then I got laid off from my full time job. Now, a little over two years later — and 5 years after I started — here I am making a podcast episode about 5 years in business and creating a giveaway for YOU! That’s how cool life is…
To celebrate this milestone, I’m doing something I’ve Never done before and hosting a giveaway!
What Am I Giving Away?
- My Equipment Toolkit – My favorite things to use when producing video and audio content at home.
- A 1-Hr On-Camera Speaking Skills Class (limited spots available)
Click here >> The giveaway is live until Friday, Dec. 18 at 8pm. <<
Milestones are a good opportunity for reflection, so I’m also sharing my 5 highs and 5 lows in business this year.
5 Lows in 2020
- A client of mine had to close as a result of the stay at home orders due to Covid-19.
- A big project that was in the works (and I was really excited about!), was put on hold indefinitely. This also resulted in big time revenue loss.
- Someone I worked with closely shared racially insensitive content on social media following the George Floyd murder. There is no room for hate at TB Media Group.
- I was planning a 5-year anniversary party (to celebrate today!) for clients, friends, family, colleagues — but Covid-19 had other plans.
- I didn’t hit my revenue goal for 2020. The (aggressive) goal was to grow by 250% from last year to this year.
5 (or 7) Highs in 2020
- We grew in revenue by 115% this year!
- I launched my own video podcast, Lift U Up: Inspiring Health Stories.
- I was a recipient of Facebook’s Small Business Grant for Black-owned Businesses. I wrote about winning the award in a Medium article here.
- I earned myself about 18 media hits, growing my exposure as a thought leader! (marketing tip included with this one!)
- I grew an awesome team!
- I’m celebrating two years of full-time entrepreneurship! Making it past the 2 year mark feels great, right fellow entrepreneurs?
- New opportunities have presented themselves as a result of our new, virtual world we’re living in — virtual speaking events, training, and producing virtual events.
Thank YOU for strolling down memory lane with me, sharing in my highs and lows of 2020 – my 5th year in business. Without your support, I wouldn’t be here doing what I do, now go ahead and grab your freebie here.

About the Host
I’m an award-winning journalist who painstakingly walked away from the thing I worked so hard for — my career in local TV news. By accident, I turned my love of telling stories into a full time business. On purpose, I run a video and content marketing agency who tells visual stories for health & happiness brands.
