Taking Healing Into Your Own Hands with Dr. John Lewis
On episode 5 of Lift U Up: Inspiring Health Stories, we went 1-on-1 with Dr. John Lewis, an accomplished researcher and a former associate professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, who committed to eating a whole-foods, plant-based diet over 23 years ago. John is someone who truly practices what he preaches and pursued his passion to help others using dietary supplements and nutrition as the founder and chief science officer of Nurish.Me Inc.
John shares his relationship with nutrition and wellness in his early life. While he was always staying active through sports, weight training, and even body building, he didn’t necessarily have an appreciation for the phrase “food is medicine”, but rather ate simply for enjoyment. However, he later had a moment that caused him to pause, reflect, and eventually seek change. He experienced many illnesses at a young age, and then an autoimmune disease in his 20s that he battled for several years, yet never received the answers he wanted from physicians. John sought out the answers himself, made the change to a whole-foods, plant- based diet and grew his passion for wellness and dietary supplements.
John has spent the last few decades with health and dietary supplementation a huge part of his life. Through his peer-reviewed research combined with his personal experiences, John broke the barrier of his once conventional opinions towards medicine and hasn’t looked back.
He’s taken the ultimate risk and gone all in on creating his company, Nurish. Me Inc., while encouraging others to take their health into their own hands.

About the Host
I’m an award-winning journalist who painstakingly walked away from the thing I worked so hard for — my career in local TV news. By accident, I turned my love of telling stories into a full time business. On purpose, I run a video and content marketing agency who tells visual stories for health & happiness brands.
